Greetings from South Dakota and Dakota Expeditions! Hope this finds you well and off to a great start this year! We, along with our staff here at Dakota Expeditions, thoroughly enjoyed having you up to hunt with us in the past and we hope to see you this year for another great season. The winter months have been mild thus far with plenty of moisture to give the cover, and birds, a great start this spring. The pheasant population is doing very well! As you may already know, this past season's pheasant population was at a forty year high and continues to look like it will be as good, if not better this season, thanks to the mild winter months. The grouse and prairie chicken population also looks promising. We were able to acquire land where we discovered multiple coveys of both species, and were even lucky enough to take a few! On the home front, we are excited to announce the birth of our little girl, Kadence Alex Smith. She was born on the 26th of February and she weighed in at 9.6 lbs.!!! Laura and Kadence are both doing very well. (And, you can view photos, of course, on our "Trivia Info" page!!) With happy news also comes sad news. Laura's brother and my life long friend, Alex, was taken from us in a car accident on the 19th of February. We miss him dearly; as those of you who got to know him will as well. On a lighter note, our "four legged" pride and joy, Buck, has come a long way since his first day in the field last season, and will be on the top of his game in the seasons to come. Joy has officially retired and will live the life of luxury indoors from now on. We are hoping for a litter of pups this spring between Harley and Shooter so we can continue the fine legacy of our hunting dog breed. Another note on Shooter, she has recovered 100% since her injury last season! We are receiving a lot of interest in this year's season due to the high bird numbers, and as always, we want to give you advance notice on getting your dates in as soon as possible so you can have first choice for reserving dates. We are enclosing a Reservation Form as well as the 2008 rates. Once we receive your Reservation Form as well as your deposit(s) of $500 per gun, we will send you a confirmation letter to confirm your dates, etc. Thanks again for your past patronage and friendship! We are looking forward to seeing all of you this fall and treating you to another great, memorable hunt here at Dakota Expeditions! And, just a reminder, our email address has changed to dakexp@gmail.com, so please remember to make that change in your email address files! Again, we sincerely thank all of you for your past patronage and friendship and really look forward to seeing you this coming hunt season! See you this fall!
